Escape The Shape
DO NOT PLAY IN FULLSCREEN!! There's a bug with the sprites :)
Escape The Shape - submission for the 2026.2 Brackeys Game Jam (Theme: "Trust No One")
The Game:
A 2D reaction-time shape-matching game made in Unity.
You're a shape. defined as a circle, square, triangle or heart. But you dream of a life where you can be anything you want. To achieve your dreams you have to make it through multiple rounds of shape matching challenges, testing your quick reflexes and shape switching skills. These challenges are difficult, but thankfully you have your trusty shape guide to help you through the process...right?
Beat the game, or be stuck forever as a finite shape!
Directions:
- The game has a short tutorial stage
- The game can be played with a mouse/trackpad or by using keys 1, 2, 3, 4 for the buttons and space for dialogue (recommended). Any of these options work in the game.
- Click the solid dialogue bubbles to continue through the game.
- Match your shape to the correct shape by using the bottom buttons (click or buttons 1, 2, 3, 4).
- You get 4 lives (shown at the top), losing a life in the tutorial stage doesn't count

The conecpt of this game, about being the shape I want is pretty interesting (I want to be a mandelbrot set, let me be whatever I feel like!), but sadly the game doesn't work very well. The buttons that switch my shape are almost off the screen even when I play on fullscreen mode, and using mouse to be switching and pressing buttons is kinda odd (specially considering the short time I have to react to something and change my shape). I think that pressing keyboard keys instead of buttons to change my shape would be better. Also, the dialog system is kinda weird, after me wandering around for a long time a text just randomly came out after I pressed space, while the game doesn't tell me to do so. And the itch.io page of this game having no decoration doesn't help me
Sorry you had an issue with the sprites. Some people are having that issue and some are not so I'm not sure what that's about, since I'm not seeing issues when I play it. The tutorial stage in the game and the description on the itch page do both tell you that you can use keyboard buttons to switch shape and space/click to continue in the dialogue.
